I appreciate it.

Excellent, excellent crime novels. Start at the beginning of the series with Sworn to Silence. You'll want the background of Kate's life and you'll want to watch her relationship with Tomasetti if you end up enjoying the book.

Hmm. Comparison to Karen Slaughter. Maybe a little. Castillo's books are definitely set in a small community. And, each book deals with some crime there that affects the Amish. There's also a very small, close-knit police department. In thinking of the comparison to Slaughter (and, I haven't read a lot of her books), I think of the police department, often a larger department than in Castillo's books.

If someone who reads both authors regularly has a better answer, that would be great.Lesahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12946133849271512083noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9995206.post-87408523274736147262015-07-17T11:02:36.494-05:002015-07-17T11:02:36.494-05:00I am so excited to read this new book. Sounds fun! I'm also a fan of Laura Bradford's mystery series about the Amish. Big difference between Bradford's cozy mysteries and Castillo's series, but I appreciate both.Lesahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12946133849271512083noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9995206.post-24054324193562869362015-07-15T17:54:26.970-05:002015-07-15T17:54:26.970-05:00Thanks for writing about the new book in this seri...Thanks for writing about the new book in this series. Linda Castillo spoke at ALA in Las Vegas last year. I was not familiar with the series so not only did I read the book she was promoting, but I also read all the others. I'll put a hold on this one.

Last fall we did a Road Scholar course in Lancaster, PA, called "Lifestyles of Faith," about Amish, Mennonites, and Moravians. It was a great way to follow up on the Kate B. series. (I have not read any of the Christian fiction Amish/romance series, but I well remember the children's book "Henner's Lydia" by Marguerite DeAngeli.)Nannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09239289676429380866noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9995206.post-85943232771211712892015-07-15T15:22:56.806-05:002015-07-15T15:22:56.806-05:00You're welcome, Kay! I know that Kate is in a small town and the whole 'Cabot's Cove' thing rears a head, but for me, I ignore that. I'm happy to visit with Kate and Tomasetti any time. Thanks for whetting my appetite, Lesa!Kayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13495669354860191042noreply@blogger.com
