Kevin's Corner

Once in a while, I highlight a blog you might not have seen. Today, it's Kevin Tipple's blog, Kevin's Corner, at https://kevintipplescorner.blogspot.com.

Kevin not only reviews books, usually mysteries, but he has an eclectic blog. He posts links to other blogs and sites that are timely (including this blog). He keeps readers up-to-date with news throughout the mystery field. Sometimes, other people, such as Aubrey Nye Hamilton, review on Kevin's site. He'll link to The Rap Sheet, Jungle Red Writers, KRL (Kings River Life). Are you familiar with Friday's Forgotten Books? Kevin often links to that site where you'll find gems that you might never have read.

Many of us in the mystery field owe Kevin Tipple a debt of gratitude. He spends a great deal of time aggregating a number of different sites, exposing readers to blogs and sites they might have missed.

Today's post is my way of thanking a friend for all the links and exposure he provides for Lesa's Book  Critiques. You might want to check out Kevin's Corner.

Lesa, the reason I receive your blog is because of Kevin's blog. He does a great job, you are responsible for a big TBR list and a big hold list from the library and Kevin is responsible for your blog, the Rap Sheet, and many more. You both do an incredible job.

Thanks to both of you.

I've yet to meet Kevin, but I do enjoy his blog and look forward to meeting him someday soon. I know Aubrey posts reviews there, and I read those, too.

I too "found" your site through Kevin's blog. He does a great service to both readers and writers in the mystery community through his blog.

Kathy, I haven't met Kevin yet, either, but he'll be at Bouchercon in Dallas, and I'll finally get to meet him there!

He does a great service to all of us, Fiona. He regularly shares my reviews on DorothyL and other sites, and I appreciate it.

Thank you all. At a time when I often wonder if I should keep going with the blog, I guess I should. :)

Health permitting, I will be at Bouchercon 2019.

Funny, I found Kevin's Blog because I subscribe to DorothyL. Sadly I do not read it as closely as I used to.

And, what would you do with your time, Kevin, if you weren't working on the blog? No reason to answer that hypothetical question here. Just something to think about.

I think about it a lot, Lesa. I would probably read more.

I am still not writing any of my own fiction and writing a review remains very difficult. There are still many days that I just kind of zone out in bed whatching TV and get nothing done. Between my own blog and the things I have to do for SMFS, I am still around and that would be what Sandi wanted. I promised her in those final days I would not just quit everything and curl up to die.

But....losing her has damn near destroyed me. I knew it was going to be hard and hell. She was terminal for years before the worst happened. It did not happen out of the blue. It was coming and we both knew it and had talked about it at different times. So, I promised her so that she would not worry about me and becuase I had no comprehension how hard it would be to try and keep going. I had thought I was ready for the inevitable ...especially by the fall of 2017 when I knew long before the doctors finally confirmed what I had been thinking. I thought I knew what was coming and could handle it. I was so very stupidly wrong.

Anyway, I just thank everyone that fiond something of use on there. On anight where I am missing the heck out of her and would give anything for a little more time, it means a lot.

All I can do is send you a hug, and continue to pray for you, Kevin. I appreciate your blog, and I know others do.
