Family Trip to NYC - Day 3

Wednesday, June 3 was finally a sunny day - the perfect day to take a boat tour. Christie had the Statue of Liberty on her top 3 list. She didn't want to go up in the statue, just see it. Circle Line Tours has a boat tour, a wonderful way to see Ellis Island, Roosevelt Island, the Brooklyn Bridge, the United Nations, and, of course, the Statue of Liberty. Sunshine! And, we had a terrific tour guide, Malachy. Much better than a couple of our bus guides.

So, here are the sites from the Hudson River, and the rest of the tour.

The U.N.

And, here are some of my favorite sites from any trip - doors!

We went to dinner down the street from the hotel at a restaurant called Lillie's, named after Lillie Langtry. Just saying, I hate restaurants that only have high stools and high tables. I'm so short, I had a hard time getting up on the stool. And, because the table had place mats with glasses already on them, when I tried to get up on the stool, I accidentally pulled on the place mat, the glass went flying, and broke. (sigh) The restaurant is pretty, and the food was good, but I don't think I'll be back. Too awkward.

I do like some of the pictures I took there, though. One was in black-and-white by mistake, but I loved it. It fit the atmosphere.

We walked from dinner to Lincoln Center. It was a beautiful evening to walk and sit outside before the play. We went to see "The King and I" with Kelli O'Hara and Ken Watanabe. Wonderful! It's one of my favorite Rodger and Hammerstein shows, with gorgeous songs. "Shall We Dance?" I love that song. And, the opening was phenomenal with the ship coming out over the orchestra. When it went on to win the Tony for Best Revival of a Musical, and Kelli O'Hara won for Best Actress in a Musical, it was perfect. Perfect ending to a fun day.

An absolutely perfect day!!!
I would have loved the boat trip.
Lesa, your hotel sounds perfectly situated - where did you stay?

Kaye, Our hotel was perfectly situated. I picked one near Broadway so we could walk back to the hotel after every show. And, we were totally satisfied with it. I'll stay there again. It's the Hilton Garden Inn, but you have to know it's the one on 8th Ave & 48th St., because there are other Hilton Garden Inns, and there's even two of them called Hilton Garden Inn Times Square. But, this one was perfect for us.
