What Are You Reading?

Lazy Sunday. With the snow days, I had time to read, but some of the books were for reviews later. I'm reading one for a journal review right now, and I'm finishing Fannie Flagg's Can't Wait to Get to Heaven for book group tomorrow night. And, in the middle of all of that, I'm heading to the movies today with a friend to see The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, followed by lunch. So, I don't have a book finished for today. I am enjoying the Fannie Flagg book, though. Just a charming story.

What are you reading today? Or, have you just finished a book you want to share? I'd love to know what you're reading.

I'm reading Peter May's last book in his Scottish Hebrides trilogy - THE CHESSMEN. Very atmospheric. Very good.

We're planning on seeing the new Marigold Hotel movie too. That first one was such a funny movie.

I'm so glad I picked up the second book in the Bell Elkins series by Julia Keller - Bitter River. I had read the first, A Killing In the Hills and really loved the characters, particularly the strong-minded Belfa Elkins, the county prosecuting attorney. Bitter River is just as good if not better - smart dialogue, very descriptive of the West Virginia locale, and a story line that is keeping me entertained.

I'm reading The King's Deception by Steve Berry and Blue Angel by Francine Prose for book club selection this month. Enjoy the movie I can't wait to see it. I loved the first one and Maggie Smith is so much fun to watch.

I read Can't Wait to Get to Heaven years ago and loved it. I loved the part about the cat and the cookies in her pocket. It has been at least 15 years since I read it but I remember it was very good.

I love ALL of Fannie Flagg's books, so I think you'll love this one. Currently I'm reading A Touch of Stardust by Kate Alcott. Thanks for the recommendation, Lesa. Last week it was sitting on the new book shelf in the library, so I grabbed it. Recently finished Once Upon a Grind by Cleo Coyle, which I also enjoyed.

Wonderful movie! I enjoyed it even more than the first one. And, the dance scene at the end is beautiful.

So, thank you for all the notes while I was off playing today. Movie, lunch, and a gift of a container of homemade bread pudding with cherries. MMMMM.

And, I could say the same thing about your books. MMMMMM. Loved the Kate Alcott book. I enjoyed a number of the others. Kaye, I was reading Trigger Warning but had to take it back to the library. I didn't get to it in time, and others were waiting. I'll get it later. I always like to see what others are reading for book club and for pleasure.

Thank you!
