I did some intense reading this week, preparing to lead the online discussion for Louise Penny's ninth book,
How the Light Gets In. So, my other reading was nonexistent the last couple nights. Now, I'm reading
Empty Mansions: The Mysterious Life of Huguette Clark and the Spending of a Great American Fortune. It's the selection for Monday night's book club. If I'm running a little behind, or sounding a little breathless as I try to keep up this week, I am.
So, while I'm playing catch-up, what are you reading this weekend? I'd love to know!

I'm in the midst of Hilary Mantel's Bring Up The Bodies published in 2012, it is her sequel to Wolf Hall.

I hope you're enjoying it, Jim.
Just finished Kathy Reichs' Bare Bones.
I'm working on Death of a Crabby Cook by Penny Pike aka Penny Warner.
I'll tune in to your leading of the Three Pines/Gamache discussion, Lesa. I don't usually comment, just read, (and think) but I will probably say a little something just so you know I'm there.
Right now I'm reading a couple of books. Ellery Adams' Murder in the Mystery Suite and Death under the Venice Moon by Maria Grazia Swan.
I just started If Catfish Had Nine Lives by Paige Shelton.
I've started reading The Glass Kitchen by Linda Francis Lee. I know you recommended it highly, Lesa, and I finally got it from the library.
I have all kinds of comments! Mark, what do you think of Death of a Crabby Cook? I haven't read it. Nancy, The discussion kicks off on Monday, probably around noon.. Sandie and Margie, I hope you enjoy the books as much as I did. How was it, Liz? Thanks for sharing, everyone!
I'm reading Benediction by Kent Haruf for a book club coming up and The Directive by Matthew Quirk.
I am the new kid here, just signed up. Reading We All Burn, John Dolan, very intense, maybe because I tend to read books written by women?
Welcome, Maria. I tend to read more books by women, too.
must be in our genes.
I'm reading Jacqueline Winspear's Care and Management of Lies. I loved her Maisie Dobbs series.
Southern Fried Women by Pamela Cable and Robert B. Parker's Blind Spot by Reed Farrel Coleman. I am really enjoying both of them.
I finished reading Ellery Adams' Murder in the Mystery Suite - loved it! And am now reading an ARC of Tana French's The Secret Place. Two of my favorite authors.
I started Love Letters by Debbie Macomber last night. I'm really enjoying it!
I am loving Crabby Cook. So far, it's one of the best books from Penny Warner/Penny Pike.
I enjoyed seeing what everyone is reading. Thanks for sharing, and for letting me know if you loved the books you were reading!
I read Empty Mansions several months ago. Like you, I was left feeling sad. Hugette Clark's life could have been so full and fulfilling to others. She did choose the life she wanted, but I keep wondering why she wanted that life.
Bombshell by Catherine Coulter.
