Weekend Reading

So, what are you reading this weekend? I'm starting Saturday sitting in the garage getting new tires, so I'll have some reading time. I've just started Robert M. Edsel's The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves, and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History. It's about the men whose mission was to rescue Europe's art treasures from the Nazi's looting machine. The movie will be out later this year. George Clooney is the producer and one of the stars, along with Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray and John Goodman. I hadn't heard of the book when I first heard about the movie, but it led me to the book.

What are you reading this weekend?

Same thing here. I only became aware of The Monuments Men when I read a blurb about the upcoming movie. It's on my book list but haven't gotten to it yet. Meanwhile I just finished The Good Cop by Brad Parks and have started Susan Wittig Albert's newest book The Darling Dahlias and the Texas Star. It will be a light read for a busy week.

Lesa, thanks once again for leading me to a title that I believe I will like.

No problem, Jane. I was going to delete it for you until I saw your other note, and then it would have looked funny. Playing fetch with Jinx and a milk cap ring. He loves playing fetch, and will follow me around the house and bring me things to throw so he can bring them back.

You're welcome, Nancy. I haven't gotten into it yet, but I think it will be good.

Million Dirty Secrets by C.L.Parker
The Circle of Thirteen by William Petrocelli

I'm also still slogging through the first book in Will Durant's Story of Civilization series

That's going to take a while, Page, getting through Story of Civilization.

I hope you enjoy it, Leemarie. I haven't read it, but hear a lot of good things about JoJo Moyes' books.

Helen MacInnes' Pray for a Brave Heart first taught me of the search for loot taken by the Nazis.

Just finished Dan Fesperman's The Double Game, a delightful romp through spy literature.

Thank you for reminding me of this book -- and upcoming movie! I've been meaning to read it!

This weekend I read YOU ONLY DIE TWICE by Edna Buchanan. A good read I'll likely read again someday.
