Winners and a "Northern" Giveaway

Congratulations to the winners of the last contest. Carole O. from Sun City West, AZ won That Old Flame of Mine, and Mary Lee B. of Chico, CA won Brad Parks' The Good Cop. The books went out in the mail yesterday.

This week, the books are a little darker, and a little north. I have a trade paperback of Steve Hamilton's North of Nowhere as the first book to give away. As his birthday draws near, Alex McKnight is dwelling on his failures. Knowing he's too reclusive, a friend persuades him to join a weekly poker game at the home of a wealthy contractor. He goes, and that night three armed men arrive, steal money from the owner's safe, beat a player, and flee. Alex is suddenly involved, forced to realize he can't retreat from life.

Or, you could win Yrsa Sigurdardottir's thriller, The Day is Dark. You can't get too much further north than Greenland. Lawyer and sometime sleuth Thora Gudmundsdottir travels to Greenland to investigate the mysterious disappearance of two Icelanders. The local townspeople believe the area is haunted, and no one wants to get involved in the case. She's soon involved in a mystery as frightening and hostile as the wilderness itself.

Which book would you like to win? You can enter to win both, but I need separate entries. Email me at Your subject line should read either "Win North of Nowhere" or "Win The Day is Dark." Please include your name and mailing address. Entries from the U.S. only, please.

The contest will end next Friday, May 17 at 6 PM MT.
