Winners and A Dog Days of Summer Giveaway

Congratulations to the winners of the copies of Karin Slaughter's Criminal. The publicist will send copies to Lisa R. from Salem, OR and Liene K. of Greer, SC. I'll notify him tonight..

Well, it's certainly the dog days of summer here in Arizona, where it's at least 110 degrees every day. The perfect time to give away crime novels with dogs in them. Let's start with David Rosenfelt's latest Andy Carpenter mystery, Leader of the Pack. Over the course of his legal career, Andy Carpenter has lost a few cases, including that of Joey Desimone, convicted of murder nine years earlier. Andy always thought he was innocent, and that the family's connection to organized crime helped to convict his client. Joey does ask Andy to visit his elderly uncle. When Andy agrees, and takes his dog with him, Uncle Nick's comments indicate he just might hold the key to Joey's freedom.

Cynthia Robinson brings back Max Bravo, an opera singer, who along with his companion, Dixie the pug, gets involved in the dirty dealings of San Francisco. In The Barbary Dogs, Max puts his vacation plans on hold when a friend jumps off the Golden Gate Bridge. When Max acquires the dead writer's journals, he traces his path in a life involving crackpots, bohemians, and wily ghosts that refuse to be buried in San Francisco's Barbary Coast past.

Which mystery would you like to win, Leader of the Pack or The Barbary Dogs? You can enter to win both, but I need separate entries. Email me at Your subject heading should read either "Win Leader of the Pack" or "Win The Barbary Dogs." Please include your name and mailing address. Entrants from the U.S. only, please.

This contest will end at 6 PM PT on Thursday, Aug. 16th.

Great giveaways this week, Lesa! I really like the David Rosenfelt books. I recommend starting with the first book in the series, altho the author does a good job filling in the reader with background info.

Thank you, Jane. Good to know. I have to admit his series is one I want to read, and haven't got around to. Sooner or later.
