Winners and Murder in the Sunshine State

Congratulations to the winners of the last contest. Matthew M. from Arlington, MA won Deborah Coonts' So Damn Lucky. The publisher will be sending that book. Carol M. from Monroeville, PA won Hilary Davidson's The Next One to Fall. I'll put that in the mail tomorrow.

This week, I'm giving away two books set in Florida. Dead Last is James W. Hall's latest book featuring Thorn, "the frequently solitary protagonist" in Hall's thrillers. In this one, Thorn leaves Key Largo to join forces with a young policewoman investigating murders. April Moss writes obituaries for the Miami Herald. Her son writes a TV series using his mother's work as a central theme of the show. In the show, a serial killer is using obits published in the local newspaper as a blueprint for selecting his next victims. But, midway through the season, a copycat appears, a real-life killer using the same method to select his victims.

Or you could win an ARC of The Body and the Blood by Michael Lister. John Jordan, ex-cop turned prison chaplain, witnesses a seemingly impossible murder at Potter Correctional Institution in Florida. An inmate enters the Protective Management unit, walks over to his cell, is locked inside alone, and shortly afterward, Jordan notices a pool of blood spreading from beneath the cell door. The inmate is dead, just like a note sent to John had foretold.

Would you like to win Dead Last or The Body and the Blood? You can enter to win both, but I'll need separate entries. Send them to me at Your subject line should read either "Win Dead Last" or "Win The Body and the Blood." Put your name and mailing address in the body of the email. Entries from the U.S. only, please.

The contest will end Thursday, March 15 at 6 PM PT. I'll use a random number generator to select the winners, and notify them that night. Good luck!
