Congratulations to the winners of the Soho Press contest. Leighton Gage's Buried Strangers will go to Sue M. of Brandon, MS. Robert M. from Sedona, AZ won Blood Moon by Garry Disher. I'll put the books in the mail tomorrow.
I just had the opportunity to host Peter May at the library, so I have a special giveaway. You can pick your setting for an autographed book. Would you like to win a book set in France, the United States, or the virtual world of Second Life?
May's Freeze Frame finds Enzo Macleod on a tiny island off the coast of Brittany in France. This fourth book in the Enzo Files takes Macleod, a forensics specialist to the scene of a cold case, the study of a man who has been dead for ten years. The crime scene has been preserved, and Enzo faces one of his most difficult cases. Once again, he's dealing with one of the seven cold cases written up by a Parisian journalist. Enzo bet he could solve them. You can read this book, without having read the previous ones in the series, so don't hesitate to try to win this intriguing cold case mystery.
If you'd prefer a setting in the U.S., try Snakehead, May's recent thriller. This is the fourth of May's China thrillers. It brings American pathologist Margaret Campbell back home, where she has to deal with a truck full of dead Chinese. Beijing detective Li Yan, now based at the Chinese embassy in Washington, is sent to find out how his fellow countrymen died in a seal refrigeration unit in southern Texas. Li and Margaret must deal with their own pasts, and a current tragedy.
Or, you can enter the virtual world of Second Life in Virtually Dead. Crime scene photographer Michael Kapinsky's life is a mess following the death of his wife. When his psychologist persuades him to try a new kind of group therapy, entering the virtual world of Second Life, he finds that murder is not confined to the real world. Michael's Second Life alter ego is working for the Twist of Fate Detective Agency, where he uncovers a string of murders. Suddenly, his real and virtual lives are in danger.
So what tempts you, France, the U.S., or a virtual world? You can enter to win all three autographed ARCs if you'd like, but I need separate entries for each. If you'd like to win one, email me at Email me!. If that link doesn't work for you, the email address is: firstname.lastname@example.org. Your subject line should read either, Win "Freeze Frame" or Win "Snakehead," or Win "Virtually Dead." Your message should include your mailing address. Entrants only in the U.S., please.
The contest will end Thursday, May 13 at 6 p.m. PT. The winners will be selected by random number generator. The winners will be notified, and the books will go out in the mail on Friday. Good luck!
