Sneak Peek Tucson Festival of the Book

I'm back from a wonderful weekend in Tucson for the Festival of the Book. In their second year, they are already the fifth largest book festival in the country. It was a great two days.

I arrived home too late on Sunday night to do even a partial recap. So, here are just a few pictures to wet your appetite. Check back during the week for summaries, and more pictures. If it doesn't conflict with Left Coast Crime in Santa Fe next year, I'm going back. Hope to see you there!

Now, a few highlights -

Barbara Samuel O'Neal, me, and Cassandra King

Elmore Leonard

Me and Meg Waite Clayton, author of The Wednesday Sisters

Scott Simon, from NPR

And, maybe my favorite picture from the weekend. This is the mouse from one of my favorite children's books - If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff.

Hope you come back this week!

I LOVE "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie!" What a great book! I must have read it fifty or more times to my kids and I'm still not sick of it. :) Great pictures...sounds like fun!

I love that book, too, Elizabeth. It's better than all of the sequels. It was a terrific festival. I think it's the week before LCC 2011 next year, so I hope to make both.

Great photos! I'm a big fan of Barbara O'Neal - any word on more books from her? I read "Lost Recipe For Happiness" and "The Secret of Everything" - loved them both.

I'm a big fan of Barbara O'Neal's as well, Mary. She said she's been baking bread all winter because her next book has to do with a bakery. No info as to title or publication date, but it sounds wonderful if it's about a bakery and bread.

Thanks for the sneak peek!

You're welcome, bermudaonion. I wish I had more time to write last night, but I finished that up at 11PM, and headed off to bed.

What a wonderful way to spend a weekend! I can't wait to see what else you post this week. I was excited to see Barbara Samuel O'Neal in your first photo. She is one of my favorites.

Wasn't it GREAT? Perfect weather, loads of happy people, good food, fantastic authors and books?!?! I was even able to get Professional Development teaching credit for attending authors like Jon Sciesczka and Terry brooks! Now that's double dipping!

I got a few snapshots but my better half had the camera at his classes. I'll post on them sometime through the week too.

I kept looking for you in the crowd but alas I didn't think to look for you with The Mouse!! What a great weekend.

Janel,

Barbara Samuel O'Neal is just as nice as can be. So nice to know about an author you like. I love her books, and I'm looking forward to the next one. I'll be doing some recaps, and more pictures throughout the week.

It was a perfect weekend, Inside a Book! Didn't you feel as if it was created just for you? I felt as if I spent two days in a world of book lovers, where I just talked and listened to people talk about books. Heaven!

I was at some of the mystery panels, a couple women's fiction. I did Jon Sciesczka's first thing on Saturday morning. I know he did some other programs, so we just weren't at the same one. Wasn't he fabulous? So funny.

I'm looking forward to next year. And, I'd love to see your pictures!

Ingrid,

That weekend was just what I needed, but hard to come back to work today!

Wonderful pictures, Lesa. I'll be back all week to see what else you share with us. Love the hat!

Thank you, Kay. Perfect hat for the Tucson sun! I do have quite a bit to share with you this week. I hope you enjoy it. (I just love that picture of Scott Simon.)

I think you'd look good in the hat, Pat. But, I don't remember where I bought it, since I've had it a while. Sorry! Thanks. I was pleased with how the pictures turned out.
