Robin Agnew from Aunt Agatha's in Ann Arbor, Michigan, posted this announcement on DorothyL this morning.
The Independent Mystery Booksellers Association (IMBA) is delighted to announce that Alan Bradley, author of The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, has won the 2010 Dilys Winn Award, given to the book we most enjoyed selling over the past year. The win was announced at the Left Coast Crime banquet this past Saturday night.
This is a wonderful announcement. I'm hosting Alan Bradley on April 1 for Authors@The Teague, on his tour for his new book, The Weed That Strings the
Hangman's Bag. Barbara Peters from Poisoned Pen Bookstore invited another library manager, Cathy Johnson, and myself, along last year after Bradley's program there. We had a wonderful few hours listening to him, summarized here.
But, the nicest part, for me, was in the acknowledgements section of the new book, where Alan wrote, "Thanks, too, to Lesa Holstine and Cathy Johnson, for a very special evening during which we talked happily about everything under the sun."
Thank you, Alan. And, with the extensive acknowledgement section, I can see why the booksellers awarded you the Dilys Winn Award. Congratulations!
