Betty Webb (the author) bases her books on those compounds. Lena is her character. The lost boys actually exist, and she uses them in the books. Her mysteries are based on the actual practices here in Arizona.Lesahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12946133849271512083noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9995206.post-77741218735128332132010-01-27T08:31:06.989-06:002010-01-27T08:31:06.989-06:00I've managed to become confused. I'm not going to say anything about the character in Desert Lost, but I loved one who was a good addition to this latest book.Lesahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12946133849271512083noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9995206.post-41359524740320936592010-01-26T17:41:35.523-06:002010-01-26T17:41:35.523-06:00Thank you, Clea. I really enjoyed Betty's visit to Book'em Mysteries, South Pasadena, and it was good to read more of what she has to say.

About the editor taking all the funny lines out of the Lena Jones books: I'm finding that for such a dark mystery, there are plenty of funny lines in Desert Noir (which I'm rereading now). Lena as the narrator obviously has a good sense of humor that serves to lighten things up enough to keep the story from being overly bleak.Sheila Beaumonthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10298066921074730854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9995206.post-12662190848672428952010-01-26T13:54:19.537-06:002010-01-26T13:54:19.537-06:00Betty's the best!
