But, it's still a crime what happened in the Church.Lesahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12946133849271512083noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9995206.post-66940140420123344062011-07-31T09:18:46.331-05:002011-07-31T09:18:46.331-05:00Ok, this is a topic, that as a Catholic, pushes my...Ok, this is a topic, that as a Catholic, pushes my buttons.
Yes, for a priest to harm a child is a terrible, terrible thing. No question. Yes, some in leadership in the Church mishandled these cases. Again, awful.
But...

So have...and still do...school boards that just move accused teachers. And, without question, the percentage of teachers who have abused children is WAY higher.
In fact..and I know we hate to be influenced by facts sometimes...priest have one of the lowest percentage of abuser among all professions. Of course, there is more money to be made because, in most states, your can not sue the school boards! Just look at he recent decision in NY.

Your child is most likely to be abused by a relative, someone in your own home, your own family..and yes, in their school.

ok, putting my soapbox away now. ;-)caitehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05824538078958999767noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9995206.post-30218183158576824642011-07-30T15:55:51.110-05:002011-07-30T15:55:51.110-05:00Karen, I agree with you.
