Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library

Evansville Vanderburgh Central Library

Everyone here knows I've been interviewing for jobs. Yesterday, I accepted the position of Public Services Officer for the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library in Evansville, Indiana. I'm excited about joining the staff at this outstanding 5 Star Library. Last week, I had the chance to visit most of the branches, and meet some of the staff. People were so excited about what they're doing. They glowed with pride and excitement.

I have wonderful friends here in Glendale. They were here for me when Jim died, and I love so many of them. It's going to be hard to leave the people I love, and my great apartment. I've been very happy here. But, I knew I'd be out of a job by the end of the fiscal year, so I've been trying to find the right place. This is it.

Now comes all the work of finding a place to live, packing, moving, etc. I hope you all continue to wish me luck! I'll need it!

Tina's right. That is a beautiful shot of your new library. Lesa, I know you are so sad to have to leave your life in Arizona. On the other hand, you will be a lot closer to your family and I know you are happy about that.

My best wishes to you as you transition to a new city, a new job, and new opportunities. You've made lemonade when life gave you lemons. :-)

I'll miss seeing you when we visit Scottsdale. However, the internet is a wonderful thing. We can still keep in touch. Hugs to you and congratulations!!

Thanks, Tina. I'll keep everyone informed!

Kay,

I'm sorry we weren't able to get together on your last trip to Scottsdale. I'm glad we were able to meet up a couple times. Thank you for the kind wishes. You're right. It was time to move on, and I found a perfect situation closer to family.

Yippee skippy!! Congratulations! So happy you've found the place to be. It sounds like a fabulous position, too.

What a relief for you to have this decision behind you. Now you have a new adventure to look forward to and I know it's going to be the very best!! Closer to family is an added plus.

When do you report for duty? I hope you have time to catch your breath! (and the offer still stands if you're ever in my area).

Congratulations! What a beautiful place to work at. All the best to you and Happy Turkey day.

Thank you, everyone! Yes, closer to family in Ohio. I start Jan. 14, so there is no time to catch my breath. But, that's OK. I wouldn't want it any other way.

I used to live in Indiana but I have never seen the Evansville Library. It is very pretty. Congratualtions!!! I think you will like Hoosiers.

I know I will like Hoosiers! People from the Midwest are some of the nicest people I know. (smile - I'm from Ohio). Thank you everyone, for the good wishes. You're right. Change is hard, but this is going to be a wonderful change. And, the people at the library have already been so kind to me. That part I'm looking forward to. Thank you!

Congratulations Lesa! So excited for you. I know it's hard to leave friends - I still miss mine from moving almost 2 years ago - but I've made new ones, and every move is a new door opening. (Though I still think you should have come over to Scotland of course! :-)) When I was hesitating about moving to Edinburgh, a friend who had moved from Scotland to Milan (yes I know, some people have such hard choices....) told me I would never regret it as I 'would do things I would never have thought possible if I stayed in one place' - and actually she was right.

The new library looks wonderful.

Have you mentioned all this to your kittens yet?! Mine are possibly going to be meeting a new playmate/enemy soon, in the shape of a spaniel puppy that we are hoping to acquire (not born yet, but definitely on its way...).

I will put word out on my lovely on-line book group that you are arriving in Evansville - I wouldn't be at all surprised if one of the members lives there or nearby, and they are all great ladies.

Keep us informed - we'll all be thinking of you.

Rosemary

Woohoo! Hip hip and hooray! I'm so pleased for you Lesa! I'm glad the job hunt is over and all that related stress. Now begins the exciting part. Packing and moving over Christmas, oh grand. Do you have any idea of when you'll actually move? That's probably a silly question since you haven't found a place yet. I bet your mom and sisters will help a lot. Plus you have all of us here to help (almost) at a moment's notice!

I'm so delighted that you found a job at a beautiful library near your family. I hope very much that you will be happy there. Please give us an idea of what your job will be...?

Congratulations, Lesa! This is outstanding news. Marc and I are looking forward to hearing more about your new work in the New Year. Until then, Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays from both of us!

To answer a few questions - Rosemary, the cats have no idea yet. They're going to hate a 3 day car ride, and leaving warm weather. My cats were all born either in Florida or Arizona, so none of them have experienced "winter". And, they won't be happy to leave their cat sitter. So, no, they won't be happy at all. Sandie, my last day of work will be Jan. 2. Moving as soon as I can after that. I start my new job on Jan. 14. My Mom's coming out to drive back with me. I'm sure I'll find an apartment next weekend.

Congratulations, Lesa! They're lucky to have you. All my best to you and the kitties for a smooth and easy move.
