May looks fun at Penguin Group USA's Berkley Prime Crime and Obsidian. Today, I'll talk about seven books. Three of those are debuts, and it seems that the South is a favored setting this month. I'm looking forward to these books. Enjoy!

Death Threats sounds like a fun cozy. What a nice way to present reviews! Here's my Sunday Salon
I blurbed "Timely Vision" for Jim and Joyce Lavene--loved the book! It was my first paranormal mystery read. :)
The May books look great! I'm also looking forward to reading "The Cat, the Professor, and the Poison."

Mystery Writing is Murder
Hey, Lesa, very cool! I love this video. Hope you do more of these. And can't wait to read the books.
So many good books and so little time to read. BTW, missed your kitties in the video.
Can't wait to read these new titles. Thanks for the heads up on what's coming out.

Thoughts in Progress
Thank you, Book Dilettante! I'll be checking out your Sunday Salon shortly.
I'm really looking forward to Timely Vision, Elizabeth. I'm glad you liked it, especially since you don't normally read paranormal mysteries.
Thanks, Lorraine. Right now, I'm doing these once a month with the Penguin books. We'll see what happens.
You're welcome, Mason! The cats were all sleeping yesterday when I did the videos. I'm actually surprised none of them showed up when they heard me talking. At least, I've learned to just go with the flow, and incorporate them if they happen to find a place in the video!
I loved the oral report for a change of pace.
Caryn
Thanks, Caryn. I just think a little chat mixes things up. My sister, on the other hand, told me she's a reader, and she'd rather read about the books. (grin)
Looks like May is going to be a great month! I was fortunate to have received an ARC of Leann Sweeney's new book and it's wonderful. Hers, of course, features cats, but I was struck by how two of the others in your video also have cats on the cover. I'm thinking the cover designer at Penguin/Obsidian either has cats or at the very least loves cats!
Cats and cozies just seem to go together, Ingrid. And, I think cats and laptops. I'm having a hard time typing this mornng because of the cat who wants to sit on my lap, above the laptop, and wants to be cuddled. (Actually, we're getting more cuddling done than typing.)
Nice selection of books - I love books set in the South!
You're getting to be a pro at this, Lesa. Nice selection for this month. I'm trying to pay attention to cozies in particular right now. I'm going to do a special Cozy Carnival thingie (I'm making it up as I go along) for my mystery book group in October. Your highlights each month will help a lot.
I think this is a fun selection, Kathy. I'm looking forward to them.
Thanks, Kay. And, I know it's a mystery group that discusses books, but I hope you point out the great covers on some of these books. I'm glad I can help!
They all sound wonderful, Lesa. What a terrific way to connect readers with these new books. Nothing beats a recommendation from a mystery savvy librarian! I want them all.
MJ
Thanks for showing off my book Lesa! And I sure hope you enjoy it. We are the KITTY NATION! LOL.
Leann
Thank you, Mary Jane! This is a terrific looking group of books, isn't it?
You're right, Leann. We cat people need to stick together!
Thanks for previewing our book, Lesa! We love the cover too! Berkley always has great covers! They are an awesome company to work for! Our cat, Quincy, thinks so too, though he wishes there were more covers with cats!
We hope everyone enjoys reading about Dae and her friends!
Joyce and Jim Lavene
I'm looking forward to reading A Timely Vision, Joyce & Jim. And, Elizabeth Craig's recommendation, particularly when she normally doesn't read paranormal mysteries, means a lot.
It's so nice to hear that Berkley is a good company to work for. They do some of the best covers in the business, in my opinion. Poor Quincy! Tell him they also have more cats on their covers than most publishers.
I'm looking forward to the book!
Missed the cat actors in the video, but learned they were sleeping.
The books featured on your blogspot always have the nicest covers. One wants to just sit on the porch or in the yard or pick up the cat.
Kathy D., - It was a surprise to me that none of the cats showed up to be in the video. I can't believe that they all slept through the whole thing, but no one wandered out to check it out.
Aren't those great covers? I'm afraid I'm one of those people who do judge a book by its cover, and I've discovered some very nice books that way.
