Sunday Salon - Jim Recommends J.D. Rhoades

When you're married to a reader, there's always the opportunity for a salon, the chance to talk about enjoyable books with someone. This week, my husband, Jim, came home from the coffee shop saying he wanted to recommend a book.

Jim recommends J.D. Rhoades' standalone thriller, Breaking Cover. He said, "What happens when an honest undercover FBI agent infiltrates a biker gang, and is forced to become a rogue agent because of an informant in the FBI?"

Breaking Cover is a fast-paced, pageturner. According to Jim, it's hard to put down. It's a must-read for thriller fans.

J.D. Rhoades is the Shamus Award-nominated author of the Jack Keller southern crime series. He blogs regularly at Murderati.com. His website is www.jdrhoades.com.

Rhoades isn't as well known as he should be. Don't take my word for it. Take Jim's.

Breaking Cover by J.D. Rhoades. St. Martin's Minotaur, ©2008. ISBN 9780312371555 (hardcover), 352p.

There is nothing like being constantly in the company of another reader, is there? Thanks to both of you. This is a name I don't know, but I love thrillers so will add him to the list.

Isn't it lovely to married to a reader? My husband and I talk about books all the time! I'm so lucky he enjoys the same sort of books as I do. Well, for the most part!

Thanks for the recommendation. Rod may finish his current read before we fly home, so we'll make a stop at B&N and get a copy of Breaking Cover. Tell Jim thank you!

It's wonderful to be married to a reader, "Table Top"! In fact, we always told my father-in-law we only got married to read.

I hope you enjoy Breaking Cover when you get to it on your TBR pile.

Les,

I told Jim he made a sale! I hope Rod likes the book.

Jim and I don't often read the same books, but when we do recommend one to each other, we're assured that we'll like it.

It's wonderful to be married to a reader! Even when we don't read the same type of books, we'll read passages from each other's books.

Your Welcome, and I know you'll love it and probably finish it before you get home.

You're welcome, J.D. Jim has read your other books, but he really loved this one! Good luck with Breaking Cover.

This does sound like a good one! I'll have to add it to my wish list.

I am married to a reader too and we often will spend hours just talking about books. I wouldn't have it any other way. :-)

You're right, Wendy. It's the best of all possible worlds, married to a reader.

Hope you enjoy the book when you get to it!

Living alone, I don't have that person handy to talk books. I do have a lady friend, though, that reads even more than me, so we have long phone conversations sometimes about what we've read.
This is one I heartily enjoyed, as well as J.D.'s three Jack Keller novels, and recommended to her. If your husband hasn't read any of those, I'd suggest he grab them as fast as he can. Worth the time and cost.

Thanks, Randy.

No, Jim did read the Jack Keller novels, and liked them. That's why I brought him this one. He thought this one was even better.

Any conversations about books works! I have my brown bag luncheon for my patrons on Wednesday, and that's my chance to talk again about 15 good books.

Jim, I'm sure Rod would've finished the book before we landed, but we couldn't find a copy at the B&N we stopped in at while on vacation. I'll look for a copy tomorrow at work. It sounds like a winner and one that he and I would both enjoy.

Thanks, Les! I'll pass the note on to Jim. He thinks it's great that he's getting comments on "his" recommendations.
