Everyday Cat Excuses

Every cat owner knows that we're completely manipulated by our cats. If you're not a cat person, you'll never understand why our cats don't listen to us. Molly Brandenburg's cartoon cat explains why cats never hear us in the book, Everyday Cat Excuses: Why I Can't Do What You Want.

Brandenburg's cats are simple line drawings, with little expression. These are not cute cats. However, every cat person will recognize the excuses. Doesn't the cat always have something better to do than listen to a human? There are lots of reasons not to do what a human wants. Anything's better - hairballs, waiting at the door to go out, waiting at the door to come in.

This small book is designed for cat lovers, people who know the cat is too busy with catnip highs, and cat naps. No cat pays attention. They just have Everyday Cat Excuses.

ROFL! Okay, that is classic. I must check out that book. I'll have to hide it from my cats, though. They already have enough excuses of their own. ;)

Here's my cats' favorite excuse, Susanne. Do you recognize this one. You can't see me! That's when they think they're hiding with half the body sticking out from under the bed, but if they can't see us, we definitely can't see them.

Yes, hide this one. Don't give them more ideas!

Hi Lesa! I'm trying to get caught up in reading blog posts and that includes the 10 that I just read of yours! :) Lots of books to think about and pursue. Thanks for posting!

Lesa, I’d like to tell you that I’ve written a scathingly funny book, The World Is Your Litter Box, which is in bookstores now as well and also available on Amazon. Coincidentally, it is also published by Sterling! The book is cleverly disguised as a cute cat book so humans will buy it, but is, in fact, a how-to manual FOR cats. Check it out on my website, www.theworldisyourlitterbox.com.

Joy,

I know how it is when life gets in the way of the blogs. I don't delete them either. I go back and catch up when I finally have time. Hope you find something good to read in those ten blogs! Thanks for reading!

Quasi - I'm going to check it out. Love the title! So, instead of hiding the book from the cats, we're supposed to leave yours around for the cats to find?

Quasi, I had to come back and say I checked out your website, and the book looks great. I liked your questions and answers for humans. And, you, yourself, are quite the handsome fellow. I'm pleased to see my reading audience includes cats. It must be the family pictures I include of my cats. Someday, I'll post a picture of Nikki as a three year old. She's a knockout! However, you're probably too much of a gentleman to go for younger kittens.
